That's Beautiful, Beautiful Every Time!

Matthew 26:6-13
6. While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, 7. a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. 8. When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked. 9. "This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor." 10. Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11. the poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. 12. When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. 13. I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her."
Samuel 16:7
7. But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

Everyone once in their life time has met someone and made assumptions about them based on what you saw on the outside, and then later learned you did not really understand them or know them.

Well, in the bible it says the disciples did the same thing. In Matthew 26:6-13 They thought that the woman was crazy stupid for wasting the perfume, but then they later realized that she was preparing Jesus for his burial.

Us humans do the same exact things. We judge other people based on what they wear or what they look like, and we don't try to see who they really truly are... we just assume. But what we should do is get to know people, and talk to them. Really listening will help see who they really are.

Sometimes people hide. They hide behind clothes, actions, music, or the words they speak.

In Samuel 16:7 Jesus tells Samuel to not look at someone's appearance, but their heart. The bible also says that the Lord looks at people's hearts, or their insides, rather than what brand or style their wear, or how pretty or ugly they are.

Sometimes people put up defenses or act a certain way based on hurts they have experienced in the past. Some people act like they have a perfect life and that they don't ever have problems.. but deep down, they may have just as many problems as you. Once you get to know these types of people, it may even surprise you what difficulties, and struggles they go through every day.

So this week, why don't you try to get to know someone for who they are and not just what they look like.
